Maui Real Estate Leader Dano Sayles Joins Coldwell Banker Island Properties

What’s it like to sell properties in paradise? For Dano Sayles, a 36-year Maui real estate veteran, it’s not just about the island’s world-famous beaches or postcard-worthy sunsets. It’s about the people. “My favorite thing about selling real estate on Maui is meeting new, interesting people all of the time,” says the top-producing agent, who recently joined Coldwell Banker Island Properties, Maui’s No. 1 brokerage. “People fly into Maui from all over the world, and from all walks of life, and it’s a great pleasure to welcome them with our Aloha spirit. It’s always the people that excite me about this business.”

Dano has been described as a “relationship magnet” who knows people by name, where they came from and even why they chose to move to Maui. “My approach to real estate has always centered around recognizing that we’re a relationship business not a transactional business,” he says. “My team consistently delivers a high level of client service because we want to have more than just ardent fans, we want to create special connections with those we serve. Longevity of a relationship is a core principle. For me, the greatest measure of my success has been seeing how many of our clients turn into life-long friends.”

Dano’s unrelenting focus on relationships led him straight to the top echelons of Maui real estate. He knows all of the most sought-after enclaves, properties and resorts — even when they were built and by whom. He has been involved in the launch and sale of several high profile resort condominium projects, as well as some of the island’s most iconic properties and estates throughout Wailea, Makena and Kihei. From 1997 until 2004, he opened and operated a well-known brokerage office in Maui, where he earned multiple awards and a prestigious ranking among the top 10 producers for the company internationally. He was already at the pinnacle of his career in earlier this year — when an opportunity to join Coldwell Banker Island Properties was presented to him.

“Coldwell Banker Island Properties has a footprint throughout the state, under one leadership team and one company,” he explains of his decision to make the move to the Coldwell Banker® network. “I can serve my clients at a higher level and expand my business.”

Dano was also impressed with the Coldwell Banker Global Luxury® program and its new identity. “Since we cater to sophisticated high-end clientele, the program resonates with our clients who want to be represented at the highest level,” he says. “They want excellent representation when they are selling a property.” Additionally, he notes that the Coldwell Banker Global Luxury name has international recognition and is a symbol of stability — two qualities that factored heavily into his decision in a year of uncertainty.

Despite the challenges and changes that 2020 brought to many real estate professionals, Dano remains refreshingly optimistic — even bullish about the Maui luxury housing market. He says the island market has never been hotter than it is right now: “We’re seeing people who are focused on changing their lifestyles, and Maui offers one of the best opportunities for a healthy, vibrant lifestyle.” And Dano Sayles is the agent of choice to guide them towards this lifestyle, and their own piece of paradise.
