Paradise Found: Hawaii’s Most Coveted Outdoor Entertainment Pavilion

As far as paradises go, Hale Palekaiko on Hawaii’s world-renowned Kailua Beach, may be the most enticing of them all. After all, the 8,348-square-foot beachfront estate’s name means “The House of Paradise” in Hawaiian. The magical Indo-meets-modern design was envisioned by award-winning Honolulu architect Peter Vincent (whom we’ve previously interviewed on Previews® Inside Out), and the resort-like settings immediately invite dreams of reveling in permanent vacation bliss. The residence’s outdoor entertainment pavilion — one of the most sophisticated and extensive to be conceived for a residential property on Oahu — is the epitome of paradise in every way. From the outdoor kitchen and dining space to various spaces for lounging, the pavilion is a welcoming outdoor oasis that pays homage to the aloha spirit in full.

Let’s start with the pool pavilion, gorgeously appointed with weathered Ipe wood flooring, Toscano white tumbled travertine coping and Coralina Palladium natural coral stone columns. The chaise lounges flanking the edge of the pool practically call out for afternoons spent in the sun.

At the other end of the pool, there’s a covered cabana — for more lounging, of course — followed by a spa surrounded by water. (Remember those lazy days you spent in the Four Seasons pool with a Mai Tai in your hand? This is your chance to enjoy your Mai Tai moment, but in the privacy of your own home).

When you’ve decided you’ve had enough pool time, the outdoor bath offers just the sort of privacy and luxury you need to feel refreshed. Chiseled Ivory Crema travertine flooring and a Timor White Indonesian pebble tile walls and ceiling provide a welcoming yet natural backdrop. Meanwhile, a two-inch Peruvian Paracas brushed and honed travertine vanity top, as well as a driftwood aged teak custom-made vanity and spa bench, natural coral block tile shower walls and Aquabrass “Mon Amour” thermostatic shower column also envelope you in a relaxed spa atmosphere.

An outdoor kitchen comes appointed with all you could ever dream of for an indoor kitchen, let alone an outdoor one. Rich details such as beautiful chiseled Ivory Crema travertine flooring, Coralina Palladium natural coral stone columns, natural coral block tile walls, whitewashed Bamboo ceiling, Peruvian Paracas 2” brushed and honed travertine countertops and ebonized teak custom cabinetry with marine grade fir interiors blend with state-of-the-art technology found in a Samsung 65” HD Smart TV with Hafele automated lift and Viking Professional Series outdoor appliances. (Oh, and did we mention the Kalamazoo Artisan Fire outdoor pizza oven?)

Yes, thanks to the large eat-up bar — it’s pretty much a heavenly place to eat, drink and grill with family and friends in the fresh Hawaiian air. For more formal meals, you can always invite your guests to join you on the dining veranda overlooking the pool.

As evening falls, perhaps you make your way over to one of the many terraces or casual lounging spaces with the Pacific in the distance to take in a Kailua Beach sunset.

After practically living outdoors among gentle swaying palms and tiki torches all day and night, you retreat inside to the main residence, where the comforts of four bedrooms and four and a half baths await. Then you repeat it all over again the next day…because you know…that’s what owners of Hale Palekaiko do. You savor every moment of your piece of paradise.
