It seems fitting — a boxing legend has just listed one of L.A.'s legendary properties on over 1.7 acres in Pacific Palisades. Sugar Ray Leonard, often regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, and his wife Bernadette Leonard, have put their home on the market again for $46.5 million following a pause due to the brush fires in the area in 2019 and the pandemic in 2020. Beverly Hills-based Coldwell Banker Global Luxury Ambassador, Jade Mills, holds the listing, along with Tomer Fridman of Compass and Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland."Now we feel the timing is perfect," proclaims Mills. "It's the most important legacy property on the Westside — available only once in a generation." The rare amount of acreage gives the property the distinction of being one of the largest lots in the Palisades Riviera, while also being located on one of the finest streets in the prestigious coastal enclave. Complete privacy behind large gates and hedges ensures the ultimate in security. Also among its most prized attributes, the exquisite grounds inspire comparisons to far-flung five-star resorts with immaculate rose gardens, a full guest house, a lit tennis court with viewing area, a sun-drenched oval pool, a grass meadow, sprawling lawn and putting green. "You feel like you are in your own private world," says Mills. "The idea of living on a self-contained gated compound and having your own resort with a tennis court, pool, home gym and wellness spaces will forever be considered the pinnacle of L.A. living." Adds Mrs. Leonard herself: “This home has been a peaceful oasis offering incredible privacy and superior amenities to raise our family." Nestled on the property is a commanding villa designed by yet another legend — world-renowned architect, Richard Landry. Inspired by Italy's great Florentine villas, the nearly 16,800 square-foot mansion was built by the Leonards 22 years ago. A long private driveway leads to a grand motor court and a beautiful ivy-covered façade that has a near-magical presence. The interiors blend old-world elegance and modernity while balancing scale with a sense of intimacy — a Landry signature.  It's immediately obvious that the home was made for grand entertaining, as the Leonards did often, with a two-story family room, gorgeous formal living room and dining room, screening room, gourmet kitchen and solarium.  "We’ve been blessed to have a space allowing us to host both intimate family gatherings and sizable fundraisers," says Mrs. Leonard. Spacious open rooms with double-height ceilings give the home a monumental stature, "where you can feel like you can be any place in the world," adds Mills. The craftsmanship, artistry and authentic details, such as the six fireplaces imported from Europe and stone floors imported from Jerusalem, give the interiors a timeless quality. Interior design firm Hendrix Allardyce Design also elevated the interiors by artfully weaving in art, antiques and classic furnishings. A total of seven bedrooms complete the home, including the primary suite, which serves as the ultimate retreat with views of the ocean and mountains. A detached two-story guesthouse adjacent to the pool features a lower-level kitchen, which is ideal for pool-side gatherings and second-floor guest bedroom and bathroom. Beyond the gates of the magnificent villa lies the Palisades Village by Caruso – the area’s best in luxury shopping, fine dining and entertainment, and luxury cinema by Cinépolis. Privacy and a close-to-everything location, combined with its legendary provenance, lift this property to singular status.
