A Bill Poss-designed Aspen compound set on over 500 secluded acres has debuted on the market for $60 million.

The sprawling ranch estate is poised behind the gates of Wildcat Ranch, “one of the most private and exclusive properties in all of the Roaring Fork Valley, and only minutes to Aspen,” says listing agent Chris Souki of Coldwell Banker Mason Morse. “It’s incredibly rare to find this combination of acreage, privacy, recreation, and location so close to the cultural center of Aspen.”

The masterfully executed 2004-built estate was imagined as a multi-generational luxury retreat. There’s an 18,946-square-foot main residence and 1,915-square-foot guesthouse designed by lauded mountain architect Bill Poss (who won the Mountain Living Legacy Award in 2019), a barn, multiple garages for cars and toys, a pool and pool house, a paddle ball court, five ponds, landscaped gardens and sweeping open land. Souki calls it “a compound of timeless grandeur and distinction.”

Timeless grandeur and distinction may not be two words that immediately conjure images of mountain properties, which are so often associated with more rustic qualities. And yet the elegant European alpine chalets provided Poss with the inspiration for this Wildcat iteration, with its castle-like stone exterior, dramatically pitched roofs, and intricately detailed interiors that manage to balance Old World refinement with plush, comfortable surroundings and modern-day luxuries.

Offering a total of nine bedrooms, 12 full baths, and four half baths, the compound was envisioned “for multiple generations to enjoy year-round,” says Souki, who also points to the property’s generous collection of private outdoor recreational amenities and other interior appointments meant to facilitate a wide range of activities from business to entertaining, including two offices, a wine room, media room, and a sweeping lower wellness level with two massage rooms, gym, hot tub room, and steam room.

As with most of his residential projects, Poss took special care to create both visual and physical connections to the outdoors. In one of the main residence’s most striking moments, views of Snowmass Mountain, Mt. Daly, and Capitol Peak are captured from an outdoor stone terrace that spans the entire length of the home and overlooks the pool, creeks, and pond.

Beyond the property’s 500 acres, the Wildcat subdivision offers boating on a 50-acre lake, 30 miles of horseback riding trails, a rodeo arena, saddle horses, and an on-site staff.

“To have a private refuge that provides this level of access to world-class recreation, resort amenities, and stunning natural beauty is simply extraordinary,” adds Souki.
