Amaya Estate in Napa Valley

Another Juancarlos Fernandez architectural masterpiece has made its debut on 41 acres in Napa Valley. Called "Amaya," the estate harmonizes views, serenity, and privacy in heavenly combination. Fernandez, the mastermind behind the Odette winery in Napa’s Stags Leap District and a handful of other landmark residential properties in the wine region, conceived of a design inspired by the skillfully renovated Meiji-era homes in Japan’s art islands. Elements such as “shou sugi ban” or charred cedar cladding, combined with large openings to the outdoors, contemporize the dwellings without sacrificing their place in the environment.

The property consists of an 8,573-square-foot main residence with five bedrooms and six baths, followed by a studio, large two-bedroom, two-bath guest house and a guest studio. Uniting all of these structures are cedar, steel and glass. European porcelain and maple wood flooring combine with vast wall spaces and distinctive custom crafted millwork. In the main residence, walls of glass flood the interiors with natural light and open onto covered decks for the quintessential California  indoor/outdoor living experience. The family, living, dining and great rooms define the main level, all positioned for communal flow and oriented towards the views. An open concept chef’s kitchen delights with a Wolf 6-burner range, two concealed Miele dishwashers, and Sub Zero refrigerator/freezer and under-counter freezer drawers. Next to the main residence rests the studio, where an expansive reading room/study with commanding lake and valley views, opens out onto a patio and lawn. A large gym and massage/meditation room provide an inspiring environment for wellness. A short walk from the main house, the guest house provides privacy with a tucked-away location amidst vibrant madrones. Inside, two-bedroom suites, an airy living/dining room, and a kitchen await. Further, an adjacent guest studio comprises an ample storage closet and a two-car garage. Among the luxury details and state-of-the-art features integrated throughout the home: energy-efficient Nest thermostats, automatic electronic shades, Lutron lighting and Sonos sound systems, custom lighting and radiant floor heating throughout the residence, plus a 60kW Kohler generator. The property was envisioned to be both an entertainer’s dream and a private oasis. Upper and lower-level dining and entertainment areas, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with 48” Wolf BBQ, and multiple decks blend with phenomenal lake and vineyard views, a full-size tennis court and a resort-style heated salt-water swimming pool with automatic cover, meandering walking trails, a fruit orchard, mature olive trees, a rock garden, and raised vegetable beds. The quintessential Napa Valley lifestyle at its best. View the complete listing by Erin Lail of Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley, co-listed by Hillary Ryan.
