In the past year, work, home, and travel have become indelibly meshed. The home office became one of the most used, and most important, spaces in the home as the workforce largely shifted to a remote reality. At the same time, restrictions on air travel fueled a spike in luxury RV purchases. Vaccinations are on the rise and the world is opening back up. But many experts think the pandemic has permanently altered the work landscape and that remote work is likely here to stay. Upwork’s “Future of Workforce Pulse Report” found that, over the next five years, the number of remote workers in this country is expected to more than double pre-pandemic rates. That means that, by 2025, there will be more than 36 million Americans working remotely. That number was 16.8 million before COVID-19. That reality, coupled with an increased interest in luxury RV travel, has impelled a new introduction from Airstream: The Flying Cloud 30FB Office. “Spurred by the shifting travel landscape during the pandemic and feedback from owners already working remotely from the comfort of their RV, Airstream redesigned the rear corner of its popular Flying Cloud 30FB Corner Bunk travel trailer, replacing the sleeping area with a ‘work from anywhere’ office space,” the company said in a news release announcing the launch. “With room for a family to take even longer adventures together while the parents stay connected to work, the 30FB Office is made for charting a course into the new reality of how we play, work, learn, and live while traveling.” Building off of the Flying Cloud foundation, Airstream’s best-seller, the Office version is 30 feet long with a dedicated office space and enhanced connectivity and power options. A task chair can be securely stowed for travel, a sliding pull-out table creates additional workspace, and overhead storage cabinets feature dry erase surfaces with undermount LED lights. A privacy divider and black-out curtains create an air of privacy from the rest of the interior space, while three windows provide an expansive view to the outdoors.   Buyers can also upgrade for personalization, including adding a Solar Package to keep them connected off the grid. “The pandemic has permanently changed the traditional work landscape and we’re thrilled to offer a travel trailer that meets the needs of our times without compromise,” said Bob Wheeler, Airstream President and CEO, in a release. “Airstream has always provided the freedom of a mobile living, playing, and working space, but the Flying Cloud 30FB Office takes that promise to the next level with flexibility and comfort in a design inspired by real-world experience.” The Flying Cloud 30FB Office starts at $107,500.
